NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENT: Formula totals for last week are mixed, higher in Nebraska,
but lower in Kansas and Texas: KS 76,942(-3,816), NE 49,787(+7,018), TX
86,016
(-1,685). Total trade volume is also higher in the North, but lower in the
South: KS 90,998(-3,320), NE 78,387(+7,552), TX 91,958(-5,523). New
showlists appear to be mixed, higher in Texas, lower in Nebraska/Colorado,
and sharply lower in Kansas. Bids and asking prices have yet to be
established. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until the
second half of the week.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (Choice 298.07 +3.87, Select 289.04
+1.39), with very light box movement (22.16 lds of choice cuts, 7.24 lds of
select cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 7.99 lds of ground). Cattle futures near
the close are moderately to sharply lower on live contracts, and sharply
lower on feeder issues.
